The solution

The e-MuM solution is relevant to any chronic disease requiring that patients take medication on a continuous basis. It can potentially improve the lives of 40 million HIV/AIDS sufferers, 200 million living with diabetes or hundreds of millions taking daily medication for heart diseases around the world.

The e-MuM system consists of three cost effective units each capable of functioning independently and addressing various parts of the challenges associated with adherence to medication regimens.

  • A reminder unit reminds the patient to take the drugs at prescribed times and visit the clinic on time. Available in a watch format with five alarms or as a cell phone application with unlimited alarms. Buy eRem.
  • A monitoring unit monitors and logs medication usage for six months and stores patient medical records. This unit, fits inside a standard pill container, includes a communication mechanism that uploads the patient’s prescription algorithm and personal information to the monitoring unit and downloads logged data.
  • A back-bone unit used by the health care facility and mobile community health workers to extract data from the monitoring unit: This unit is capable of analyzing the data and uploading new data by means of a graphical user interface. It also includes a database capability for storing patient data and prescription history and the ability to integrate with existing hardware, software and computer networks in public health care facilities.
